2023 Berger Entrepreneur Bootcamp 

The Shepard Broad College of Law and the Sharon and Mitchell W. Berger Entrepreneur Law Clinic proudly present the 2023 Berger Entrepreneur Bootcamp: Innovating Successfully – Getting it Right! Building on the success of our three prior bootcamps, each with over 200 in-person and online participants, our 2023 Bootcamp will immerse entrepreneurs in the skills and disciplines needed to successfully launch and grow a start-up business.

The 2023 Bootcamp will feature a faculty of over 30 diverse presenters from NSU's Shepard Broad College of Law, NSU's H. Wayne Huizenga College of Business and Entrepreneurship, start-up founders, and other experienced professionals and participants in South Florida’s start-up ecosystem.  This two-day workshop is open to all NSU students, faculty, staff, and the general public.  It will also be simulcast and recorded for those who want to attend the program online. 


Friday, October 13, 2023 from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Saturday, 
October 14, 2023 from 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.


Admission to the program is free and includes course materials, breakfast, coffee, and water. On Friday, lunch will be provided at no charge through the generosity of our sponsors. On Saturday, lunch can be purchased for $20 when you register for the event. 

VIP Reception

Friday, October 13, 2023, 5:00 p.m.

Join panelists, special guests, and NSU dignitaries for the VIP Reception. This event is not included in general admission and the cost is $50 per person to attend. If you are interested in attending, please select the VIP reception option during checkout when registering for the in-person event. 

In-person event is limited to 200 attendees. 

 

BOOTCAMP PROGRAM 

 

The Bootcamp program and VIP Reception will be held at the Alan B. Levan | NSU Broward Center of Innovation, which is located on the fifth floor of NSU’s Alvin Sherman Library at 3100 Ray Ferrero Jr. Boulevard, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33314. Parking is available in the NSU Parking Garage and is ADA compliant.

Topics for 2023 will focus on the essential steps for developing new products and companies, including:

  • How intellectual property rights can help you create a demand for your products or services that can’t be met by the competition
  • Intellectual property protection fundamentals, including copyright, trademarks, patents, trade secrets and restrictive covenants
  • Legal and financial planning for start-ups and founders, including corporate structure, governance, capital allocation and taxes
  • Developing your team - onboarding and managing human resources
  • Workshop on creating a business plan
  • Operating in a digital world - an introduce to privacy, cybersecurity and artificial intelligence (AI) issues entrepreneurs need to consider
  • Public and private resources to promote economic development in South Florida
  • Panel discussion on the challenges facing start-ups in underserved communities, and resources and strategies to overcome them
  • Panel discussions among successful start-up founders and mentors as well as among members of NSU’s Entrepreneur and Business Hall of Fame providing insights and wisdom for you to consider in your entrepreneurship journey
