Leigh Markowitz graduated from Duke University School of Law in 2019, and then spent a year clerking for Florida's Fourth District Court of Appeal, before joining the team here at NSU. In law school, Professor Markowitz served as the Special Projects Editor for the Duke Journal of Constitutional Law and Public Policy. She also spent three years as the president of Duke's student chapter of the Animal Legal Defense Fund, during which time she organized and hosted two successful animal law conferences, which brought in speakers from across the country. Professor Markowitz’s commitment to clinical education was fostered during the three semesters she spent in Duke's Environmental Law and Public Policy Clinic, where she represented non-profits pursuing environmental justice.
