Bachelor's in Law

The NSU Bachelor of Science in Paralegal Studies gives you a leading edge in the legal community. You'll gain a comprehensive appreciation of the U.S. legal system and give you an advantage in the highly competitive legal assistant and paralegal career field. The American Bar Association has approved this degree program which actively prepares you to support the lawyers and legal firms in research, trial preparation and preparing legal documents.

Current NSU students pursuing a non-paralegal studies undergraduate degree can concurrently register for the Paralegal Certificate Program

The goal of the program is to prepare students for entry-level paralegal positions in the common areas of law practice. Paralegals are nonlawyers, and therefore, are prohibited from the unauthorized practice of law. This program trains paralegals and is not a program for training lawyers or legal administrators. Students pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Paralegal Studies are required to submit a paralegal portfolio at an exit interview with the program coordinator prior to degree conferral.

Dual Admission is a Premier Program pioneered by NSU for a select group of highly-motivated students who have maintained a laser focus on their career goals from an early age. The dual degree programs enable you to earn a BS in Paralegal Studies and Masters degree in your chosen field in a focused time frame.

NSU opens the door to over 25 programs in seven different NSU colleges.

Dual Admissions Program information

A paralegal, as defined by the American Bar Association, is "a person, qualified by education, training or work experience, who is employed or retained by a lawyer, law office, corporation, governmental agency, or other entity, and who performs specifically delegated substantive legal work for which a lawyer is responsible."
