Education:
Born and raised in South Florida, Oscar Fernandez is a member of the Florida Bar and has been an attorney since 2015. He attended the University of Florida for his undergraduate studies and Florida International University for law school. During his time in law school, Oscar served as the President of the Student Animal Legal Defense Fund and interned with the Department of Homeland Security’s ICE Office of the Principal Legal Advisor. He later went on to serve as a Legal Fellow in the Justice AmeriCorps program through Equal Justice Works, representing unaccompanied minors in immigration proceedings. After completing his fellowship years, he was hired as a staff attorney for the Immigration/Legal Services office of Catholic Charities in Palm Beach. Since 2018, Oscar has been employed as a Consultant and Research Attorney for LexisNexis, working closely with law schools and firms in South Florida.
In his free time, Oscar loves to travel with his wife and daughter. He also volunteers annually with the 12th Man Football and Cheer Camp for special needs children (as their mascot Victor-E), and he is currently serving a three-year term on the Alumni Advisory Council for Equal Justice Works, where he was recently appointed Chairperson of their Programming Committee.”
